I started playing piano when I was 6. Not knowing what I was doing, not really connecting with the teacher I had at the time, I knew there was something there. Something I couldn't explain. As the years went by, I played through books teaching myself how to play. I took some lessons in my teen years, but they never really connected with me. High school came. I was in musical theatre and everything was going to plan. Then, I wasn't able to do anything for a few years and everything seemed to stop. After, 4 years or so, I got back to school, I started piano lessons again. With everything that had happened, I had to start all over again from scratch, which has taken the last 20 years or so to get to where I am today. Then I started at Berklee College of Music. There, I received 2 Master certificates in songwriting and music business. Several years later, I went to Nashville and recorded an album of music I had written. I came back to Calgary and sold it in Indigo bookstores. Then, the heavy metal community came calling. I got a call to record with the heavy metal band Tattered, which was a blast and something I suggest anyone do (I was so out of my comfort zone, you wouldn't believe how nervous I was). I started teaching piano 10 years ago, which is an amazing experience, that I still do today. I still wanted to write music. I was at the APTA music festival and playing at one of the pianos. One of the teachers asked me, "Have you ever written this down for people to play?" I told him honestly, "no, I've recorded it, but not written it down". That gave me the idea for Between The Keys, which I have published and it is for sale on the website or at Indigo Books.
